Access - State Land from N, S, E, W.
Route - Trail from Cedar River Road.
Summit - View from tower only.
Quad - Wakely Mountain.
Mountain Range - No specific range. Part of the Moose River Plains area.
Winter Access - Yes, same as non-winter access. Only real access is from Cedar River Road. However in winter during snowmobile season the road is closed at the snowmobile parking area this adds on quite alot during the course of the round trip hike.
Misc. - Wakely has the tallest firetower in the Adirondacks, standing at 80' tall. This is also the only place you'll get a view. During winter the tower is very slippery and dangerous. If you're on the tower during a windy day, you'll feel and see the tower swaying. There is also an old helicopter landing pad along the trail just shy of the summit. There is a small section of old 4x4 road that has to be hiked to get to the original trailhead, during all seasons. This used to be passable with a high clearance vehicle-but now it's highly recommended that you hike it.
