#86  -  Noonmark Mt.
Elevation 3556 ft.

Steep winter ascent

Access -  State Land from S, E, W. AMR property from the N.
Route -  State trail from rte 73 and from St. Huberts. Bushwhack from Bear Den.
Summit -    Amazing views. Very rocky.
Quad -   Keene Valley.
Mountain Range -  None specified, East of the Great Range.
Winter Access -  Yes, same as non-winter access. Very good chance you'll have a broken trail all the way to the summit. The upper portion of the trail is in the open and subject to high winds and extreme winter conditions-not only can the conditions be dangerous, but the trail can easily be obscured by drifting snow, and broken trail can be covered with fresh powder.
Misc. - Noonmark is one of the most popular mountains in the High Peaks area. Even though it's not one of the 46 High Peaks, it has views worthy of such. And the climb is just as rewarding and tough. It got its name from being the marker of noon. Meaning-it is directly South of Keene Valley, so when the sun is directly over its summit, it's noon-so the story is told.
