Mission Statement
Our objective is to assist others in their enjoyment of the "lower 54" of the Adirondack100. We strive to do that in an environmentally sound way in order to keep these mountains in the state they are in now. We'd like to encourage the hikers to be aware of the fragile ecosystem and wild beauty that abounds. Many of these peaks are in a remote and primordial state, and its out pledge to do everything to keep them that way. By gathering climbers in one place, we feel this is the best way to influence hikers, and encourage responsible backcountry behavior. We have a patch that recognizes the significant accomplishment and effort it takes to summit all 100. Its purpose is to serve as a symbol of our shared committment. By that, we mean doing everything possible, to enjoy, respect, and maintain the natural beauty of these peaks. For a climber to wear this patch, we intend that they share this same respect for the beauty, solitude and sense of adventure for the ADK100 that we do. We cannot strongly-enough encourage hikers to obtain permission to climb the peaks on or accessed through private land. The rights of land owners is important, and we encourage cooperation between the hiking public and those interested in responsibly climbing all 100 peaks. We will be working closely with land owners and managers to try and obtain permission for climbing parties during certain portions of the year or to have some of us join the Sportsman's Clubs. Talks have only just begun. In the meantime, we expect climbers to obtain their own permission, while being courteous and respectful. Finally, we hope the ADK100 site will help forge strong friendships between climbers, healthy insight into the proper use of our Park, responsible teamwork in respecting and maintaining the beauty of the Adirondacks, and having fun while doing so.
