Access - State Land from N,S,E,W.
Route - Bushwhack from all sides.
Summit - Wooded no views.
Quad - Santanoni Peak.
Mountain Range - Santanoni Range.
Winter Access - Yes, same as non-winter access. WOW-what a long trip in the winter this would be. Skis would be the only answer I can think of to get you there without burning out. Chances are, other than the section of the reserve road-it's going to have to be broken.
Misc. - This may be the longest hike of all the 100 at just under 20 miles round trip-for one peak, with no views-sound exciting? In the right conditions you may be able to get a lift part way in by a horse drawn cart, of course it's not free. However you'll most likely have to use the power of your own legs to get you out. There are people who bushwhack from Little Santa to Santa-but I've heard it's a nightmare-never tried it myself. If you're thinking of an approach via Ermine Brook Slide-think long and hard about it. It's doable but the headwall of the slide will exit you into a think maze of cripple bush and you're still a good shot from the summit. The slide takes you away from the summit-use the slide as a totally different trip destination.
