#40  -  Mt. Emmons
Elevation 4040 ft.

Emmons from Seward

Access -  State Land from N,S,E,W.
Route -  Herdpath from Donaldson. Bushwhack via slide.
Summit -    Open ridge, nice views.
Quad -   Ampersand Lake.
Mountain Range -  Seward Mountain Range.
Winter Access -  Yes, same as non-winter access. However the Calkins Brook approach is by far the most popular route in winter. It's usually broken in by hikers, but with extreme weather on the ridge the trail often gets blown over.
Misc. - This peak is named after Ebenezer Emmons a state geologist, and the man who gave "Adirondacks" its name. Emmons is the southern most peak in the Seward Range, and is the furthest peak to reach. There has been alot of talk about a bushwhack route from the summit of Emmons to a slide. Some have even used this route to approach Seymour.
