Access - State Land from S,E,W. The N powerline approach from the town of Lyon Mountain is not public land. Route - Bushwhack from all sides. Summit - Semi open, nice views. Quad - Lyon Mountain. Mountain Range - Lyon Mountain Wilderness. Winter Access - Yes, same as non-winter access. Easy climb in winter, but usually unbroken. Misc. - Averill's name is still unknown by us, a little help here. Best climbed with Lyon Mountain. The approach from the Township of Lyon Mountain, we are still unclear if public is welcome to hike the ATV trail to the radio tower. Assume it is not, without permission.
